God only knows exactly where the circulation numbers bottomed out but an inside source told me the R-J had picked up 2K subscriptions within the first few weeks after Frederick's departure.

David McKeeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8841356013250880291.post-42243262417881711922011-05-10T10:10:54.952-07:002011-05-10T10:10:54.952-07:00Can't really argue with that analysis. But the Sun's willingness to spend money on journalism is what sets it apart from the R-J. Also, I hear that former editor turned column writer (and fellow Reid basher) Tom Mitchell is out completely now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8841356013250880291.post-52863403715726859512011-05-09T10:50:03.555-07:002011-05-09T10:50:03.555-07:00Howdy,

Shortly after the RJ changes, circulation called again and matched the previous rate and I returned to the analog edition. Don't know whose decisions affected the pricing, just that in my case, and maybe many others, the lower pricing seems to have coincided with increased print circulation. Since advertisers buy audience, circulation is what matters. Now, if they can improve the commitment to what you term "expensive" journalism we will all benefit. They have a few very fine writers there who deserve the opportunity to do great journalism.
Travel safe.johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02496967299185718698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8841356013250880291.post-35569920066240803222011-05-09T07:56:05.056-07:002011-05-09T07:56:05.056-07:00Steve,

I know how you feel about the site, but some of the decrease is undoubtedly a shift of readers to online.Brogan Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11676499415407276153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8841356013250880291.post-30264442371828886962011-05-09T04:00:42.859-07:002011-05-09T04:00:42.859-07:00Sherm must be counting the days until you leave fo...Sherm must be counting the days until you leave for Ann Arbor.detroit1051https://www.blogger.com/profile/10333263460398351197noreply@blogger.com
