Holy Lesbo-sploitation, Batgirl!

Is this a first? Or a new low? Or brilliant?

I got a release today from the fine folks at McFadden's at the Rio that they're having a "Girl-on-Girl Kissing Contest."

Read this:

LAS VEGAS – McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino will prove girls really just want to have fun at their “Girl-on-Girl Kissing Contest.” The preliminary round will take place on Sunday, February 8 and the top five duos will move on to the finals on Sunday, February 15, where crowd response will determine the winning pair that will take home $500 cash, courtesy of McFadden’s. No need to feel badly for those who don’t take home the cash, all of the contestants will receive a bottle of champagne to enjoy with friends.

Wow. Two weeks of competitions! I can't decide whether to be awestruck or offended. And where's the guy-on-guy kissing contests? I imagine you'd need to offer up a lot more than $500 to get that going. Well, at least not at a straight club.

Apparently it's not new -- but the only place I've seen it is in Vegas. See this ... http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/blogs/nocturnal-admissions/2008/dec/03/all-over-vegas-girls-kissing-girls-cash

I would have given you huge Nerd Cred points if your title had said "Batwoman" instead of "Batgirl," since Batwoman is in fact a lesbian.

I think Batwoman was a character from the 50's, when they went to Bat-everything. This was during the sci-fi period, before the Adam West "camp" period. I think they dusted off the concept, and gave her a new identity.
A good marketing study would be competing girl-girl vs. boy-boy kissing contests. My take is that everyone wants to see girls kissing girls, and only gay men wnat to see boys kissing boys, which narrows the market considerably. Of course the advantage for you is that with the boy-boy contest, you could estimate the crowd at whatever you want, and we'd take your word for it.

You see this stuff in Vegas more and more. People should do this in private, I don't come to Vegas to see this. Show some class people.

There is a Batwoman. She was introduced a few years ago and DC hasn't quite figured out what to do with her.

Her partner has now picked up the mantle of The Question (a detective-style hero), who is used in a lot more stories than she is.
