Am I the only one...

...who thinks that this...

...looks like the brochure for a nursing home?

It's not. It's the cover of the invitation for the Nov. 11 opening of the latest Station Casino, Aliante Station, which is so far north in the Las Vegas Valley that you might want to bring your passport just in case. Here's the other side of the invite, which promises great opening night entertainment. Last time, with Red Rock, that meant Sting.

Here's what the place looks like from the outside:

It cost $675 million and has 200 rooms. Red Rock or Green Valley Ranch it's clearly not. I'm sure it'll be nice, though. I just think they could've picked a more lively motif for a, uh, CASINO, than the silhouette of a pair of birds, is all.

To me the problem is that 'Aliante' (an Italian word that apparently means kite or glider, which might explain the wing-y images a little) just just sounds odd next to 'Station.' It's kind of harsh-sounding. Probably why 'station' is in smaller type on the logo ...

LOL!!! That's a pretty grim statement from a nursing home! Sometimes I really wonder about these marketing pieces though. Keep in mind....this is the one that is chosen...how bad were the alternatives?!?!?

The countdown is over, almost. Just like your life.

Yeah, that is bad huh?

And those are supposed to be gliders or kites or something? I thought they were seagulls, or more apropriately for Las Vegas, pigeons.

The gliders/kites/gulls look very much like the ones from the company openoffice.org
