This is a perfect example of "Birds of Prey" and yes you should be concerned. Small animals have been injured or killed by birds. If you love you animals never allow them to wander outside without a leash and supervision.Remember pets are our responsibility.

That's a mockingbird. There's probably a nest nearby.

Robert - the dogs were off-leash so I could film this. They're generally on leash and the bird does it then, too. That's how I noticed it.

It's not a Bird of Prey. It's a mockingbird guarding a nest.

That means you need to watch your head too. They're pretty fearless, but they'll just divebomb you and poke you with their beak, at worst.

Funny stuff. Good soundtrack.

It is probably a nest. We had this with Sparky a few years ago. About this time of year, in or around the pool a bird would attack. Then we saw a hatchling coming out of the shrubs / palms behind our pool's waterfall. Once it was big enough to fly away it stopped, but we couldn't let her out by herself until then. It happened again the next spring, but then the birds must have moved to a new nesting spot and it hasn't happened since.

Surprised they aren't attacking you too. They're protecting a nest.

blue jays will do the same thing and are much more aggressive.
