Mirage Re-Wrapped With Love

I thought it was an optical illusion -- a mirage, as it were -- a few days ago when I saw the folks up high working on the "Love" wrap on the Mirage. It seemed like it was getting bigger but, no, surely they were just finishing up its removal.

Turns out, they're putting it back up. Why? According to an MGM Mirage spokeswoman, the old one had been up for about a year and was fading from the harsh desert sun so this was a replacement job. So I guess that means that this wrap will be permanent fixture on the skyline. I'm not real sure how I feel about the permanent defacing of these buildings with advertising. It is, after all, Vegas. But still...

Just got back from Vegas today, and I'm sad to hear this about the stripping of the "Love" banner is not permanant. For the third time since it's been put up, we've stayed at the Flamingo with the Toni Braxton banner, and we didn't have to deal with it this time around, but as far back as March of this year, it needed to come down because it was just obstructing the great Strip views the property offers. I can deal with the banners for non-permanant ads, but it's a shame to leave them up for so long.

A show like Love, which is constantly sold out shouldn't need this sort of ad. I'm surprised they're not wrapping the TI with a Mystere wrap, too. And how about that drag queen Joey Arias' crotch spread large across the New York-New York skyline to pimp Zumanity?

I'm not really surprised by anything that happens at these resorts since Steve Wynn has moved on. Maybe a bit disappointed, though.

To the previous commenter: Wrapping TI with a Mystere wrap would distract from the giant boobs on the ship below.
